LA GROUMELLE
THE HOUSE
La Groumelle is a stunning and very authentic 18th Century Mas that sits nestled amongst its own vines in the Parc National du Luberon. With far reaching views to Menerbes behind and up the valley to the Petit Luberon in front, the luxury villa has been sympathetically restored to retain its unique Provencal charm incorporating all modern conveniences without sacrificing any of the character or architectural details. The house is a three minute drive or fifteen minute walk up to the outstandingly beautiful village of Menerbes and ideally located for exploring all that the Luberon has to offer.
STYLE
Sleeping
The interior of the house oozes character whilst benefiting from modern comforts and amenities. Each of the 5 bedrooms in the house has its own unique character and is individually furnished with a mixture of contemporary soft furnishings and antiques sourced in Asia and local 'brocantes'. There are 3 principal suites and 2 twin bedrooms. Bed linen and towels are from The White Company.
Relaxing
​
Retaining a wealth of original period features, including floor tiles and exposed beams, that have been carefully preserved, the house offers numerous areas for relaxing. Le Petit Salon is on the ground floor and is the more formal of the two salons complete with library and a vast stone fireplace, one of two working fireplaces at La Groumelle. On the first floor is Le Grand Salon arranged with comfortable sofas and chairs and a mezzanine level that houses the tv snug. Outside there are sofas and sun loungers on the terrace around the pool as well as deck chairs and day beds in shady nooks.
Dining
The house and its grounds offer multiple dining options. Inside there is a large farmhouse table in the kitchen while our atmospheric 'Cave' provides for meals with a really special ambience.
Outside there is a large antique stone table with spectacular views towards the Luberon and shaded by a Micocoulier tree. In the courtyard there is another stone table that offers a different ambience again, surrounded by stone walls, herbs and roses.
Bathing
The house has 5 bathrooms ; 3 of which are ensuite, 1 large family bathroom and 1 separate shower room and 1 WC on the ground floor. All bathrooms are equipped with Savon de Marseille handsoap and a hairdryer.
Cooking
Our farmhouse kitchen has been recently renovated and provides a stylish and functional setting with all appliances required. Outside there are 2 barbeques for guest use.
Or employ one of our chefs to create fabulous feasts sourced from local and seasonal ingredients.
Laundry
The house has a dedicated laundry area with butlers sink, washing machine and dryer. There is a washing line outside to make use of the beautiful Provencal weather.
AMENITIES
Tennis Court
Practice your forehand on our hard surfaced tennis court. Raquets and balls provided.
Children

Play a game of Boules under the leafy walnut trees. Bounce on our Trampoline. Challenge a parent to a table tennis tournament.
Garden
6000 sqm of private landscaped gardens to enjoy. Deck chairs in shady spots are perfect for an afternoon siesta.
Housekeeping Services
Our house manager can arrange daily housekeeping, baby sitters, chefs and even a pre-arrival grocery shop.
Pool
Our 13 x 5 m heated, salt water pool is surrounded by local stone. Relax on the sofas in the shade or sunbathe on the loungers. Pool towels provided.
Free Wifi
Wifi is available throughout the house and around the pool.

Vineyards
We are surrounded by our own vines but why not take a tour of one of the hundreds of local wineries around us.

The palaces and museums of Avignon, Arles, Aix-en-Provence, Marseille are all an easy drive from the house.
Markets
Visiting a local market is one of the highlights of the area. Menerbes market is on a Thursday.
Leisure Activities
Golf, Horse Riding, Kayaking, Hiking are all on our doorstep.
Festivals
Summer is the season of festivals!
The theatre festival of Avignon , the opera festival in Orange (the Chorégies) which takes place in the Ancient Theatre. The Luberon Music Festival (Les Musicales du Luberon) is based in Menerbes and many of the concerts are held in Menerbes’s Saint Luc Church. This classical music festival runs from June to August with artists brought in from across Europe.

The Sea
The stunning callanques are an hours drive and the sea is refreshingly cold. Cassis wine and local urchins make for a perfect lunch.
